A fresh new website for the Warden School District has been in the works for a while, but challenges arising from the pandemic had unfortunately delayed things. We're pleased to announce that the new site will be going live on December 1st, 2020. The old site and its content may be found at wardensd.org.

COVID NOTICE 11/23/2020 update

11/23/2020 - The District has twelve individuals quarantining themselves due to COVID issues. Eight individuals have a household member that has tested positive or are awaiting a test result for themselves or a household member. Two individuals are awaiting a test result for themselves after being exposed at school. We have one positive COVID case today and one additional positive from Friday that came in late. Contact tracing and consultation with the Grant County Health District has determined that at this time there are no additional quarantines warranted by those exposures. Should additional individuals test positive, appropriate contact tracing will be conducted to determine if additional quarantines are warranted.

As a result of the school setting exposure, we are quarantining a small cohort. Should additional individuals test positive, appropriate contact tracing will be conducted to determine if additional quarantines are warranted.

You may be eligible to receive internet service at your home for free. Washington’s K–12 Internet Access Program allows students and their families to connect at no cost to you. There will be no credit check or denial based on past-due bills.

How is this free? Costs are being paid for this program out of Washington’s Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction, using CARES Act money, which is Covid-19-related Grant Funding.

DETAILS

Services: Washington’s K–12 Internet Access Program, by the provider Presidio, include a choice of either: • Free broadband internet connectivity where available or • Free MoFi (Mobile HotSpot) internet connectivity where available

Cost: Free. There will be no fees for installation or equipment, and you will never receive a bill. No credit checks or denial based on past due bills. You will need to pay for any damaged or lost equipment.

Length of service: Internet access will be provided to you, at no cost, through June 30, 2021.

  • If you want to continue with internet service after June 30, 2021, it will become your financial responsibility. To continue, you will need to contact your internet provider and make arrangements for this. Otherwise, your service will automatically end when the program ends.

Message from WES re: Halloween

Dear Warden Families:

Halloween in classrooms will look different this year. As we practice social distancing and safety precautions, students may not come to school or bring with them costumes, masks, or other Halloween props. There may be celebrations in classrooms, but students will not be out in the halls. Please do not send food items to be shared in classes. Teachers will be allowed to give out pre-packaged treats and have craft activities on Friday.

Warden High School has been recognized as one of the most effective high schools in all of Washington State!

Numerous studies exist exploring the correlation between growing up in a low-income household and undesirable academic outcomes. However, The Center for Educational Effectiveness (CEE), with support from a Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation research grant, is focusing on schools defying the trend in Educational Landscape and Systems Analysis of Washington State. The study intends to produce a comprehensive analysis of access to essential data, programs, partnerships, and systems elements driving the highly effective continuous improvement efforts that support continued improvements for students. Warden High School was one of 13 High Schools selected out of 2,200 individual schools from across Washington state that met the criteria for positively influencing students’ educational outcomes. Congratulations to the staff, students, and community of Warden High School for being recognized by The Center for Educational Effectiveness for continuous educational improvement outcomes for students in low-income households.

A message from the WMS Principal to WMS families, re: conferences

Greetings Middle School Families,

Fall conferences for Warden School District are scheduled for October 13 and 15. Conferences will take place remotely using Zoom links provided for students and families. Grade level teams will facilitate an Open House for all families to discuss learning/behavior expectations for Direct Teacher Instruction (DTI) and Academic Instructional Support (AIS) days, standards, attendance, Canvas, etc. Remote learning is challenging for ALL. Staff will provide grade level information for families during the Open House sessions. Individual conferences for students will also take place to review and discuss current academic performance. We look forward to your participation during conference week!

During the Special Board Session on 10/15/2020, the WSD School Board approved an amendment to the 2020-2021 MOU between the WSD and the WEA.

Warden School District Summer Food Service Program continues!

The Warden School District will be continuing the Summer Food Service Program (SFSP). All children up to 18 years of age can receive meals. If you wish to receive meals, please call: (509) 349-1872.

Lunch pick up at the Concession stand beginning 9/2/2020

Good morning, Warden! Beginning the first day of school, September, 2nd, meals will be handed out from the concession stand Monday – Friday 10:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. to registered Warden School District students only. Students and parents picking up meals will need to know each student’s lunch number and name. It’s been a while since we’ve had to use those lunch numbers, so plan for a little extra time and patience the first few days for staff to help look up lunch numbers for those who have forgotten. See you this Wednesday!

New HS Principal

The Warden School District would like to welcome Mr. Chris Lupo as our new High School Principal. Mr. Lupo recently moved back to Moses Lake from the Duvall area where he was a principal for the Riverview School District. Chris was a teacher in the Warden Elementary School for a number of years, early in his teaching career, and remembers having several of our current staff when they were in elementary school! Welcome back to Warden, Mr Lupo!

School websites overhaul

At the end of July, 2020 the Warden School District (WSD) Technology Department will begin overhauling all of the WSD sites beginning with Elementary, Middle, and High Schools. During the overhaul, the sites will be inaccessible and service of the sites is not expected to resume until mid September. The main WSD site will remain in operation to continue to provide information and services. Updates regarding the schools will be made available on the District website, as well as some updates for the community will be made and on the WSD Facebook page.

We look forward to presenting contemporary websites that are feature rich and streamlined in hopes of better serving the Warden Community and stakeholders. Exciting news Warden! Friday, 5/15 marks the last Technology Checkout for the year from 11:30am to 12:30pm, which means 3rd and 4th grades are getting their turn! Anyone who had previously signed up for laptops or laptops and hotspots are welcome to come tomorrow too!

A quick word on internet hotspots, the WSD Technology Department has taken additional precautions to keep students safe. However, it requires hands on with both the hotspots and laptops that will not be reasonable to do on the spot tomorrow. If you are checking out BOTH a laptop and a hotspot tomorrow, then good news, the additional work has already been done. For those of you that already checked out laptop and reserved a hotspot or visa-versa, the WSD Technology Department will be opening a new phone line and will be posting hours to provide tech support for just this sort of thing. Details regarding the phone line and appointments will follow shortly.

Athletic Department Announcement

Sports Uniforms/equipment check in and BSN Spirit Gear pick up is scheduled again for Friday May 1st. If you forgot to stop by last Friday to turn in your sports uniforms or pick up your BSN Spirit gear you can do so again on Friday May 1st from 11:30 am to 1:30 pm in front of the elementary school. While picking up your BSN gear or dropping off your uniforms, please be sure you make your way to the distribution tables closer to the elementary playground where you will see Leti Gonzalez and Valerie Hernandez. We ask that you remain in your vehicles, they will go out to you and collect or give out gear.

January 17th-22nd

Please note the following no school dates for students. The Warden School District will release students at 12:30 PM on Friday, January 17 for teacher grade posting. The next week, the Warden School District will not have school in session for students on January 20, 21 and 22. January 20 is Martin Luther King holiday. January 21 is our scheduled semester break day. And on January 22, only teachers will be in district for their contracted Learning Improvement Day. Students will end up having a 5 1/2 day mini-vacation. Enjoy!
